SCHOOL DIARY DATES

Throughout each school term the Diary Dates will be displayed on this page. They are updated weekly here and on the Lower Park Beacon Page.

The School Holiday dates for 2008 - 2009 are shown below. They are compliant with those suggested by Cheshire Local Authority which has tried to coincide the dates with neighbouring authorities.

Term Dates
INSET days: Tues 2nd Sept 2008, Mon 3rd Nov 2008, Mon 8th June 2009, Mon 27th July 2009, Tues 28th July 2009

Please note: Year 6 SATs for 2009 take place in the week 11th -15th May 2009.

Please avoid absence whenever possible in the 6 school-week period leading up to and including 11th -15th May 2009.

The policy of the school is not to authorize leave of absence for holidays in term time except for exceptional circumstances (this does not include cheaper holiday offers in term time). Requests for leave of absence must be made to the headteacher in a letter.

Holiday in Term Time - Policy

Parents are reminded that it is a DfES Directive and school policy not to authorise absence for holidays taken in term time and the criteria are clear. For example, schools are not permitted to authorise absence in term time because of "cheap holidays, availability of desired accommodation or overlap with the beginning or end of term." Discretion for authorisation of holidays can only be given when special circumstances, such as attendance at a wedding, is associated with the request for absence. Please bear this in mind when booking holidays as the school is bound by this legislation and attendance is monitored by the Local Authority. Requests for leave of absence must be made by way of a letter to the headteacher - please include the reason for the request. All requests will be treated individually and some circumstances can be authorised if they fall within the guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.
