Dear Parents,

PTA – Special Request
The following request has been made by the PTA. I have encouraged them to ask you, our parents, to consider this type of involvement as I am convinced that we must have a parent who can do this very valuable job for the children of Lower Park. Please consider it seriously – you would be greatly appreciated by the staff, governors and the PTA.

Are you a good organiser? Do you enjoy motivating people and co-ordinating activities? If so, you could be just the kind of person we’re looking for!

We’re looking for someone to work with our PTA Summer Fair Co-ordinator this year, with a view to taking over the role of Summer Fair Co-ordinator in 2008. Interested? We’ve got a wealth of experience on the PTA and a committed team of people to do the work. What we need is a team leader - someone who thrives on a challenge and would like to take the lead in organising the fair next year, when our present co-ordinator retires from her role.

The Summer Fair is a fabulous event in the school calendar – something the children look forward to each year. Perhaps you’re the person to make it happen for us in 2008?

Please contact myself, Mr Coulson, by telephone or email if you are at all interested and I will explain more about it.

NSPCC Sponsored Event
Today in assembly, the children learnt about the very good work that the NSPCC does for children and the children are keen to help raise money to continue the good work. Details of what the children are doing will be sent home today. Please ensure that children only ask for sponsorship from people they know and that they have your permission to do so. Of course, parents may wish to ask their work colleagues too, to sponsor the children – all for a good cause! Thank you for your support.

This Week at
Lower Park
  • On Monday, Mrs Beaumont spoke to the whole school in assembly to thank them for the beautiful flowers, vase and gift tokens given to her for her 60th birthday. She wants me to thank parents for their kindness too – she had a wonderful day.
  • On Tuesday, the children of Key Stage 1 were mesmerised by the skills of two parents, Mr Cresswell and Mr McEvoy, who demonstrated how to build a wall. They actually built a small wall of breeze block before showing the children how to plaster it. Of course, this was all to do with the current buildings topic.

  • 50 children had a great day at Manchester United Football Club on Wednesday – as well as enjoying a training session at 'The Cliff'.
  • Classes are benefiting from specialist dance teaching by Emily Waller on Wednesday afternoons. Part of the partnership with Poynton High School, this is a big success.

  • Thursday was an unusual day because of the gales. The children were brought in from the playground because of the very strong winds. There was negligible damage to the school building, but today we have been assessing the risk of trees blowing over – in particular, the one to the left of the entrance gates which seemed to be affected most by the strong winds. We hope to have dealt with the tree today, but I would ask you to exercise caution.

  • Today, the children learnt more about the NSPCC and the sponsorship event. Thank you for your support
Next Week at Lower
Park
  • On Monday, Cheshire County Council’s mobile library bus will be visiting school.
  • On Wednesday, the school will have its annual Health and Safety Inspection.
  • The school discos take place next Friday evening.
