Lower Park Hosts a ‘Pop Connection’ for the Community

NB: The CDs can still be bought from the school office and they cost £7.50.
Children at Lower Park School have always enjoyed a rich music and performing arts tradition, but more recently embarked upon a fabulous new venture. They hosted two ‘Community Concerts’, and produced their own CD for family, friends and newly formed fans to enjoy.

The charity Pop Connection spent four days working with the pupils in their year groups, teaching a brand new set of seven songs. On the final day, they brought a professional mobile studio to record the children, which was a very exciting experience as they became recording artists for the day.

The children went on to perform two concerts at the Baptist Church for the wider community to enjoy. The songs helped children to understand important lessons about life and caring for each other, and encouraged them to value all people and look after their world.

Music co-ordinator, Mrs Abi Mellor said “The children have absolutely loved it. It has been a really exciting opportunity for every child to engage in music, and something they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
